The converted buildings frequently already have the supply capacity that houses would have to pay to add. That is the single most useful thing to know about EV charging in this postcode, and it is worth checking your meter box before you assume you are limited to 7kW.

Legacy three phase in converted buildings

When a warehouse, workshop or small factory becomes a home or a studio, the three phase supply that ran the machinery often stays connected. We find it regularly in Spotswood, and it changes the charging conversation completely.

With three phase already at the meter and a board that can accommodate it, a 22kW capable charger at $2,500 to $3,000 plus is a straightforward install rather than a project. Check what the car will accept first. Many EVs cap onboard AC charging at 7kW or 11kW, in which case the larger unit charges no faster today, though it may suit the next vehicle.
